Tapping into a well of Big Data

As one of Indonesia’s largest oil producers, contributing 28% of total national oil production, PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia’s (CPI) operations zone includes Sumatra and East Kalimantan. The bulk of oil production comes from Duri field, which hires around 900 employees and 8,000 contractors to manage 5,000 wells.

This large, dispersed workforce lead to management’s decision to partner with Esri Indonesia to improve its operational process and reinforce fleet safety.

Throughout the transformation project, manual workflows and reporting systems were replaced with a modern, dynamic business system with spatial analysis capabilities. This system is now known as CPI’s vehicle tracking system (iJMS).

The operational efficiencies gained as a result of the iJMS implementation has seen the system grow into an enterprise solution that delivers value across CPI’s entire business.

The enterprise GIS adoption has helped CPI save millions of dollars in operational costs and produced a safer working environment that enables better cross-department collaboration.
