The way the world uses smart mapping technology has changed today, with the release of the most advanced Geographic Information System (GIS) platform ever developed.
ArcGIS 10.3 – the most significant update to the platform in recent years – now makes real-time mapping and analysis available via any device, at any time.
Esri Malaysia CEO Lai Chee Siew said the new software, from global mapping giant Esri would redefine the way more than 800 organisations in Malaysia do business.
“In recent years we’ve seen significant growth in the number of Malaysian organisations embracing smart mapping and 3D technologies to support decision-making,” Mr Lai said.
“ArcGIS 10.3 will meet this demand by enabling users to more easily make, share, and analyse 2D, 3D and real-time smart maps.
“Organisations can quickly create and distribute live information on smart maps, and perform advanced analysis of current situations, as well as predict future scenarios.
“Ultimately, this new technology will empower users to significantly improve their understanding of their organisation – and the broader world.”
ArcGIS 10.3 will also simplify the way traditional users of the technology create and share maps online.
“Previously, publishing a map online required multiple applications and the migration of data through the platform to produce a final product for the web,” Mr Lai said.
“Now, the platform allows users to render and process their data faster than ever before, therefore boosting their efficiency, and helping them extend the impact of their work in their organisation.
“As such, we expect the use of smart mapping technology within organisations to become even more widespread.”
Market forecasts predict the Asia Pacific GIS market to grow at a compound annual growth rate of near eight per cent from 2012 to 2016.
