An impactful career driven by curiosity

For Nur Nabella Huda Binti Azmi, building a meaningful career has always been the goal. While studying Surveying Science and Geomatics at Universiti Teknologi MARA, she realised GIS was much more than a technical discipline. It was a catalyst for improving lives, a technology quietly shaping decisions on everything from identifying safer routes for students to helping cities manage their infrastructure more effectively.

“Being with the best in the world makes me feel empowered and motivated.”

Her lightbulb moment came when she understood that GIS brings clarity to complex problems, and that clarity empowers people to take meaningful action.

This sense of purpose guided her to a project close to home, in Kedah: using GIS to assist authorities in managing groundwater resources more sustainably for the future. The project later earned her the second runner up for Esri Young Scholar Award 2024, a milestone that not only recognised her work but also kickstarted her journey with Esri Malaysia, a company she had admired for years.

“I wanted to start my career in a company I had always looked up to.”

Following her win, Nabella joined Esri Malaysia as a Management Trainee, rotating across departments to see firsthand how geospatial technology becomes real-world impact. The experience gave her a deeper understanding of the business and strengthened her connection to the purpose behind the work.

A culture that builds confidence and trust

Like many graduates, Nabella’s early days were filled with nerves and uncertainty. But she quickly discovered she was surrounded by people who were kind, patient, and eager to help her succeed. That support made all the difference.

One of the most rewarding parts of her journey has been how quickly she was trusted with meaningful work.

“I’ve gained insight into different departments, and there’s a real sense of fulfilment when I can complete something on my own. I love being given responsibility.”

Even as a trainee, she played a role in client demos and project updates — experiences that built her confidence and helped her see the real impact of her contributions.

“Every time I deliver something, it reminds me that I’ve learned, understood, and contributed to someone else’s success.”

To her, Esri Malaysia is a place where collaboration comes naturally, where diverse perspectives strengthen solutions, and where everyone — no matter how early in their career — is encouraged to speak up and make a difference.

Proud to be here

“Being here absolutely makes me proud.” It’s a simple statement, but one that reflects the heart of Esri Malaysia’s culture: A workplace where curiosity is encouraged, trust is given, and young professionals like Nabella are empowered to create meaningful change from day one.
