Safuan Bin Yusof

Safuan graduated in MPhil of Computer Speech and Language Processing from Cambridge University in 1993, and BEng (Hons) in Information System Engineering from Surrey University in 1991. He joined IRDA in March 2009 as Chief Information Officer and was responsible for the implementation of the ICT Blueprint for Iskandar Malaysia, which aims to make Iskandar Malaysia’s ICT infrastructure world-class by 2020. The programs under ICT Blueprints had been incorporated into CDPii to support the Smart-city development in Iskandar Malaysia.

Safuan has over 20 years of experience in ICT support, software development, project management and ICT consultancy services. Having commenced his career as a Software Programmer at DEC Ltd (UK), the second largest ICT company in the world at that time, he subsequently returned to Malaysia to assume the role of Analyst Programmer in Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd.

This marked the start of his tenure in ICT Management with other big-name companies that include Sapura Digital Sdn Bhd, EON Berhad, KLB Berhad, MISC Berhad, British American Tobacco (M) Berhad and DHL (Cyberjaya). He was the CIO at Titan Chemical Berhad, Johor for 3 years prior to joining IRDA. He brought to IRDA wide range of experience from various industries such as Oil and Gas, Logistics, PetroChemical, Telecommunication and Manufacturing.
