In this panel discussion, hear first-hand how leading plantation producers are investing in digital technology to improve precision-farming, reduce costs and increase ROI as well as providing a best practice approach to sustainability, biosecurity and supply chain management.
Oil palm crops globally produce an annual 81 million tonnes (Mt) of oil from about 19 million hectares (Mha). In 2020, it faced many challenges including the increasing incidence of new and existing pests and diseases, elevated temperatures, increasingly erratic rainfall patterns and downstream issues relating to supply chains and consumer sentiments.
With the disputes still rampant and unaddressed in the Euro markets criticising its sustainability and high dependency on manual labour for its productivity - especially in plantation fields - digital technology undoubtedly became a tool that is paramount to the future of global palm oil producers.
This session seeks to address how digitalisation can help alleviate the pain points of the current situation and mitigate the impending challenges.
